Cookies During Lockdown

Non contact Wicked Cookies and how to get hold of them during lockdown....

Greetings from the land of lockdown!

Firstly, whilst we may still have a sense of humour, we do fully appreciate and agree with the decision of the government to implement a stricter lockdown situation. The sooner we can stay apart and stop this spreading, the sooner we can get back to a normal life.

Boris Johnson’s speech came about 10 minutes after we posted up the postcodes we are covering for home delivery this Friday, so we spent the rest of the evening discussing whether our plans were still viable based on the new ‘rules’. We have decided they are, as we are offering a food delivery service and Boris himself recommended we all order food for delivery…so thank you Boris!

This is how we see it:

  • Adhering to lockdown
The 4 of us are in the same house and are stuck together. The 4 of us can stay stuck together whether it be at the bakery, the house, the garden or in the car.
We cannot ‘work from home’ as we don’t have our ovens etc so we have to travel to work. But it’s just us at work and we are alone with nobody to put us at risk, and nobody for us to put at risk.
Our crazy high hygiene standards are more than sufficient for us to keep making and baking cookies for those that want and need them (when our cookies give the amount of joy we have been told they do, then we know that over the coming weeks, some of you really are going to ‘need’ some.

  •
  • Online ordering can continue
While the Post Office and Royal Mail are still operational, we can still post your cookies nationwide as normal. We will be reducing the days we bake in the week, to maximise our efficiency and reduce the number of times we have to ‘go out’ to the Post Office. At this moment, we anticipate baking and despatch to happen on Mondays and Wednesdays.

  • Click & Collect from CV6 2AE can continue
For this to be the case, we ask that those collecting DO NOT ring the doorbell or knock at the door. Whilst we love you dearly and would love to say hello, if we are to offer this option, then we have to instigate a strict ‘no contact’ procedure. This means that you will be emailed after you place your order and before we bake it, to give you a collection window. You can then drive up and collect your named box from our doorstep without the need to see, speak or touch anything or anyone (other than your much prized cookies!)
Please note, we will be packing boxes wearing gloves to ensure maximum hygiene and peace of mind for you.
At this moment, we anticipate click and collect to happen on Mondays and Wednesdays after 4.30pm

  • Home Delivery to specific postcodes on specific days
We will try this for the first time this Friday (March 27th). Again, we will have a strict ‘no contact’ procedure for doing this. We will wear gloves to place your box of cookies on your doorstep. We will not knock or ring your doorbell. As most people will be at home at this time, we think this is the best option. The boxes are not waterproof. If it is raining, we will (subject to availability) use compostable bags to put your box in. If we run out of these bags, we will come up with whatever we can at the time and do our best! If we have online access during our deliveries, we will attempt to send despatch notes for delivered orders which you will receive by email.

This will then be your moment to run to your front door, with tears in your eyes and joy in your heart that you are one of the lucky few to have fresh Wicked Cookies delivered to you! (if you’ve been checking the doorstep every 5 minutes in mouthwatering anticipation, then you will be ahead of the delivery note with your discovery!)
At this moment, we anticipate Fridays will be home delivery days where Giles and Bailey/Zac will take one area and I will take the other with Bailey/Zac.

How to order:

Orders can only be placed through our website. At the checkout, you can select your delivery option;

  • First class post (costs from £3.50 upwards depending on the volume of cookies)
  • Click & Collect from us at CV6 2AE (no charge – you will be emailed up to 1 day after order placement with a collection date and time – usually ‘after 4.30pm’)
  • Home delivery CV? ?,?,? Friday ?th March/April (costs £2 irrespective of number of cookies)

Payment can be made via the Paypal button. YOU DO NOT NEED A PAYPAL ACCOUNT to pay with this button, you can choose to enter your credit/debit card info, but if you do have a Paypal account, it will likely be quicker.

Email notifications
You will receive an email confirmation of your order.
You will receive a despatch notification email when your order has been posted/ready for collection/delivered to your doorstep.
You may receive an ‘in process’ email, but this is not always the case and just lets you know we are working on your order.

Prices, web points and loyalty cards
As we’re sure you can appreciate, the huge amount of work that goes into the baking and packing of your individual order, means we don’t offer the 3 for £5 deal we do at our markets and pop-ups. Cookies are a flat rate £2 each with your postage/delivery charge on top (where applicable).

Loyalty cards
Until this week, web orders received web points (just the same as loyalty card stamps, but usable in the virtual world of our website only). From this week, due to the extenuating circumstances, we will be including physical loyalty cards in with all orders AS WELL AS web points. This will ensure that, when this is all over, you can still claim your free cookies and help us carry on planting trees. Just to be clear, physical loyalty cards can only be redeemed in person from our pop-ups and events once we are back to normal.
Until then, you can save up your web points and redeem them online just like loyalty cards…but you do need to have set up an account when you checkout. Guest checkout and not registering will not give you web points as there’s nowhere for them to go!

Well hopefully, you haven’t fallen asleep by now – that’s a lot of detail because we know you have a lot of questions. We will be keeping our social media channels up to date with the home delivery postcodes we will be covering each Friday and the checkout of the website will show the relevant postcodes.

Stay safe and well all of you, and it is our continued pleasure to bake for you and send you our amazing cookies which are filled with love, hope and positivity from the 4 of us.

Thank you always for your support, especially at this difficult time,

Sally, Giles, Bailey & Zac
xxxx

P.S Whilst this is obvious I am sure, should government guidelines and lockdown rules change, we will be amending our response accordingly. Please bear with us if you place and order, which then overnight becomes something we are unable to fufil as a result of lockdown changes. We will deal with something like this on an 'if and when it happens' basis.
